MADISON, WIS. - The 51th Annual Meat Animal Sale at the 2022 Dane County Fair grossed $188,005.50, according to Dane County Meat Animal Sale Officials.
The sale attracted wide community support with a total of 96 animals sold in the sale: 21 sheep, 32 hogs, and 43 steers. Sheep averaged $11.76 per pound, hogs averaged $4.34 per pound, and steers averaged $2.05 per pound.
The Grand Champion Market Barrow was shown by Lauren Breunig of Sauk City and was sold to Dried Up Drainage for a price of $15.00 per pound. Oregon Farm Center purchased the Reserve Grand Champion Market Barrow, shown by Emma Haag of
Oregon, for $12.50 per pound.
The Grand Champion Market Lamb, shown by Garrett Pauli of Belleville, was sold to Woodman’s for $25.00 per pound. The Reserve Champion Market Lamb, shown by Emma Haag of Oregon, was purchased by Payne & Dolan Inc, for $22.00 per pound.
The Grand Champion Steer, shown by Kendyll Theobald of Mt. Horeb, was purchased by Renk Seed for $4.50 per pound. The Reserve Grand Champion Steer, also exhibited by Kendyll Theobald was purchased by Top Notch Feeds for $2.75 per pound.
