Cat Project Meetings & Education Information - CLICK HERE to view the 4-H Education Calendar

All youth planning to show in the Cat Department at the Dane County Fair must meet these educational requirements:

  • Attend at least one approved education event (listed below)
  • Education Requirement Card – Complete this card after attending a species-specific education meeting/event to confirm attendance. You should upload the completed card by the deadline date listed on the online portal that opens in April.
    • To upload the education card, please save the document as a JPG, TIFF, or PDF. Youth can take a picture of the education card to upload.
  • Submit the education card by the deadline date listed on the ONLINE PORTAL - OPENS in APRIL. Failure to submit this card will make you ineligible to show your animal at the Dane County Fair.
  • If showing in more than one species, youth must complete and submit the requirements for each species separately.


2026 Approved Education - TO BE ANNOUNCED AS APPROVED

  • 11/24/2025 (Mon) – Small Animal Meet and Greet (DOES NOT COUNT AS AN EDUCATION EVENT)– from 6:30-7:30pm at the Dane Co 4-H Office, Madison (click link for details). FREE Register Here. This fun, informal opportunity is designed for youth of all ages who are interested in getting started or learning more about 4-H Small Animal Project Areas – Guinea Pigs (cavies), Poultry, Rabbits, Dogs & Cats. Youth and Adult Project Leaders will be available with their animals. No formal program, drop in anytime. Ask questions and learn about 4-H education opportunities, curriculum, purchasing animals, showing at the fair, and more.
  • Cat Project - Unit 1 - ONLY if a youth is unable to attend an in-person Cat Project Meeting and must receive prior approval. Review the packet and complete Worksheet 2 & 3. Submit worksheet with Cat Education Card for review by the Fair Education Committee in order to receive education credit.

  • 4-H Cat Project Meeting Presenter
  • 4-H Club Meeting – Cat Presentation – must send dates and information to the Fair Office (info@danecountyfair.com) prior to the meeting.
  • Open Cat Show – must show proof of participation and judging.

Complete the form link below or contact the Fair Office at info@danecountyfair.com to receive approval for educational opportunities not listed. Forms can be submitted within 30 days of the education session and by June 1.
