Wisconsin Youth Livestock Program

2024 Education Programming to be announced soon.

The Dane County Fair has confirmed that the education programs offered by the Wisconsin Youth Livestock Program (WYLP), in connection with the University of Wisconsin Madison Animal & Dairy Sciences Department, College of Agricultural and Life Sciences and Division of Extension, can be used to meet your Livestock education requirement for beef, sheep, and swine. These are LIVE Virtual Zoom and In-person educational programs.

These sessions will provide awareness and knowledge of animal agriculture in the challenge areas listed. They will also give details on careers and how this area connects with your animal project. There will be a case study to further develop discussion skills with a local project leader, agriculture, and or science teacher on the discussion topic. Younger youth can learn through a take-home activity they talk about with parents and/or project leaders.

For registration and details about each presentation, go to:

Contact Bernie O’Rourke, UW- Madison Animal & Dairy Science Extension Youth Livestock Specialist at (608) 263-4304 or with questions.

Youth livestock exhibitors are encouraged to follow the Wisconsin Youth Livestock Program social media and websites for all educational programming information related to animal sciences from the Department of Animal & Dairy Sciences from UW Madison and Division of Extension.
