The 54th Annual Meat Animal Sale at the 2025 Dane County Fair on Friday, July 18 grossed $305,497.35 according to Dane County Meat Animal Sale Officials.
The sale attracted wide community support with a total of 107 animals sold in the sale: 31 sheep, 41 hogs, and 35 steers. Sheep averaged $9.17 per pound, hogs averaged $7.79 per pound, and steers averaged $3.89 per pound.
The Grand Champion Market Barrow was shown by Max Beere of Verona and was sold to Kayer Ford Lincoln for a price of $10.00 per pound. Conant Automotive purchased the Reserve Grand Champion Market Barrow, shown by McKayla Moyer of Stoughton, for $13.00 per pound.
The Grand Champion Market Lamb, shown by Leslie Schraufnagel of Brooklyn, was sold to Woodman’s for $23.00 per pound. The Reserve Champion Market Lamb, shown by Max Beere of Verona, was purchased by Woodman’s for $15.00 per pound.
The Grand Champion Steer, shown by Cannon Suddeth of Stoughton, was purchased by Moyer’s for $10.00 per pound. The Reserve Grand Champion Steer exhibited by Leonardo Beere of Verona was purchased by Woodman’s for $7.00 per pound.
